Completing the Jackalope Playwrights Lab

Yesterday was my last session in the 8 week master class at Jackalope Theatre. It feel odd, to think that next week I won’t be spending 4 hours of my Saturday developing new plays with a group of playwrights. The Lab gave me the opportunity to write a play I’ve been terrified for over a year—a play about a rape joke springing to life, and how white women collude with patriarchy to their own detriment, and the pain of a broken friendship. It’s a play I don’t think I could have written without the support of the lab and with Calamity West’s guidance through writing it. And I’m deeply grateful for the friends who supported me and encouraged me to do the lab.

A special thanks to Jesse Robkin, Lindsay Adams, Ella Pennington, Topher Williamson, Emma Carter, and of course, Brian Huther! You all are the sweetest beans and such wonderful artists and I’m honored by your support.
